History

August 1st, 1955
Three brothers, Enrico, Giovanni and Carlo Bianco start a new business to manufacture household appliance components.

1960
The establishment of ELBI International.

1962-1965
Thanks to Carlo’s creative contribution and Giovanni’s commercial and manufacturing initiative, Elbi International begins to produce and export solenoid valves and pressure switches and reaches 250 employees.

September 1966
Elbi International moves to a new site in Collegno – Turin as a consequence of the growing production volumes and reaches 450 employees.

1968
Establishment of Elbi s.a. in Barcelona – Spain.

1969
Acquisition of Bitron Video (video entry-phones), the first step into electronics.

1971
Establishment of Eledro in Dronero – Cuneo – Italy.

1973
Acquisition of Elettrovago in Milan. Components for cooking appliances.

1975
Bitron moves into the automotive market and becomes a supplier to FIAT.

1976
Establishment of Valvar in Rossana – Cuneo – Italy. Focusing on the production of visible switches for the automotive market.

1982
Acquisition of OMP in Alatri – Frosinone – Italy, a Crouzet-licensed company producing washing machine timers.

1984
Establishment of Siceb in Savona – Italy,  focusing on the production of automotive components.

1985
Establishment of EDB, Elbi do Brasil, the first overseas plant for the production of automotive and appliance components.

1989
Acquisition of Selnev in Nevers (France) for the production of automotive components.

1992
Creation of a common corporate identity – Bitron.  With the exception of Elbi International, all the companies in the group are renamed BITRON.

1998
Strategic globalization. Establishment of Bitron Poland in Sosnowiec.

2002
Establishment of Bitron China in Qingdao, first factory in the Asian Pacific region.

November 2004
A new plant for Bitron Poland (Sosnowiec) 40,000 sq.m, 12,000 sq.m covered.

December 9th, 2004
The foundation stone of  Elbi International’s new plant is laid.

August 2005
Establishment of New factory in China: Bitron Ind. China (Qingdao) (10.000 square meters).

November 2006
Acquisition of 3DQ Electronics, China.

2007
Opening of the new Elbi plant. The decision to build a new plant in Italy is a strong sign that the heart of the group stays in Turin – Italy, even though globalization has led us to open plants in Poland, China and Turkey.  Elbi is the competence centre for most of the appliance and HVAC components and for highly-automated production.
Establishment of Bitron Turkey in Manisa Turkey to serve the automotive and appliance markets.

2008
The two plants Bitron China and Bitron Ind. China plants are merged.
Globalization and shorter product life cycles mean faster time-to-market, requiring companies to work even more closely together. Strategic alliances, new manufacturing plants in globally strategic locations and a worldwide marketing and sales organization ensure that Bitron is well-positioned to provide quality, innovation and efficiency to our business partners.

2010
Creation of Bitron HVAC Systems to serve HVAC markets.

2011
Opening the new Bitron Turkey plant in Manisa (doubles its size).

2012
Laying the foundation stone for the new Bitron establishment in China: First step April 2013 / Second Step: December 2015

2013
Opening of the new Bitron Electronic China (Qingdao)

2014
Opening of the Bitron de Mèxico (Querétaro)

2016

Stars production of electronic devices in Mèxico.                     Bitron Poland openining new dedicated electronic plant.

2017

Bitron de Mèxico openining new dedicated electronic plant.
